Gardens at RHS Hyde Hall – a first visit

Several days ago we paid our first visit to the gardens at RHS Hyde Hall:

Robin SingingThis was an unplanned visit but as we were in the area we decided to pay a visit. The first photo that I show was taken about halfway through the visit in the afternoon and shows a Robin singing. This was just a quick grab shot so I was quite pleased how it turned out with its beak wide open.

In the gardens were facilities for wildlife including piles of logs for lizards to use:

lizardsThis is an enlargement from the centre of the image – I tried to take a succession of photos as I moved closer but my movement disturbed them and one ran off. However I was quite pleased with this as it stands.

Although I did take flower photos (which you can see in the gallery) I was trying to show views that were different from the usual snaps:

Woodland pathThis shows a woodland path to the side of some of the more formal gardens. I must admit a prefer this more informal, almost naturalistic, type of view. Even though I took it myself, I do like this view…

Crab apples in the sun:

crab applesThese make a nice colourful study – I wonder how many people visiting the gardens stop and look at the colour and, dare I say it, beauty of such fruit. For me this is just as interesting as any type of flower.

You can see the full set in my personal gallery.
