Yesterday, the Canal in Stone was Frozen

The Trent and Mersey Canal flows through the town of Stone in Staffordshire. Yesterday, on the last day of a cold spell, we had a short walk along the canal which was frozen. Judging by the debris that had been thrown onto the ice, it must have been frozen to a depth of at least 1-2 inches. Here are a few photos taken on this walk:

View of the T & M Canal with a layer of ice
The frozen Trent and Mersey Canal at Crown Wharf
The frozen Trent and Mersey Canal near the Whitebridge Estate
Ducks on the ice on the canal
Debris on the ice near the leisure centre

Not fantastic photos but a reasonable record of an event that I hadn’t seen before in Stone.
