On Monday morning when I went out, this sunrise greeted me:
I was struck by both the colour and atmosphere at this time of the morning. I believe it does convey some sense of the feeling of the beginning of the day.
This is a view across about 2/3rds of the width of our garden and shows the summerhouse on the left, the arbour on the right in the polytunnel towards the back. The trees behind the polytunnel are on the neighbours property.
For Tuesday am am showing a fuchsia against a backdrop of a wall of our cottage:
This plant used to live on the ground by the dovecot, but was moved as my wife is reorganising a flower bed. The pot is sitting in a tall (about 30″) chimney pot that we bought as a garden feature several years ago.
Photographically, I should have eliminated the black object on the bottom left, but in this series of photos I am showing the garden as it is.

This is work in progress of a flower bed being replanted. It did have hostas and ferns but the soil proved to be too dry. So, before we repainted the cottage, my wife dug everything out (which also made it easier when painting) and is now preparing for replanting.
The object on the left is an old mangle and on the ground are two old galvanised bath tubs that have been repainted and are being filled with soil to become garden features. There are still a couple of ferns in pots but these should be easier to manage.
Photographically, both this photo and the previous needed some adjustment to the colour – the camera’s automatic white balance changed the cream coloured cottage to a dirty white.
On Thursday my eye was caught by a rose that is still blooming that was brilliant in the low sun:
It is pleasing to see that there is still a lot of colour in the garden even though much of it is beginning to fade.
And today I am showing this collection of potted plants:
This collection of plants are sitting on a wooden platform that covers a small eyesore: the access covers for our sceptic tank, the vent of which is covered by the inverted pot. This is designed so that the pots can be removed and the platform lifted to gain access to the covers. It does make an attractive feature.
One reason I chose this to photograph is that it has been quite windy today and many plants were being blown about a lot in the wind – this group seemed to be least affected.
