Insects by the Waveney

We had a walk over the river Waveney last week when we saw a beautiful dragonfly in the riverside foliage. As I only had my mobile phone with me, I used the camera from that to photograph the dragonfly. However, I couldn’t get close with the phone before it flew off – the only photos I managed were by zooming in from a distance and the quality was awful.

So, for our next walks I took my compact camera. Here are the results of the first walk where I saw some butterflies – this may be a Large Skipper (but let me know if I am wrong!):

The next walk showed the same type of dragonfly as before but I was able to get closer. This may be a male Banded Demoiselle or possibly a Beautiful Demoiselle:

Nice to see such beautiful creatures in the sun.
