Stunned blue tit

This morning I walked into my garden shed not knowing there was a blue tit in there which panicked and flew straight into the window which stunned it.  I gently gathered it up and put it on the lawn so it could fly off when ready. As it was still there a few minutes later, I went and got my compact camera and took a few photos of it before it flew off:

Blue tit -1Most photos of wild birds are taken with powerful telephoto lenses. With many compact cameras the close focusing is best with a wide-angle view. So, with these, you get a close photo of the bird with a wide field of view and quite a decent depth of field which adds context to the image. These were taken from a distance of about 4-6 inches.Blue tit -2Blue tit -3After the above photo it flew up into the shed and rested on the bench:

blue tit on benchThis photo is a bit blurry as it was quite dull inside and I wanted a photo before it flew off – which it did immediately after I took the photo.
