Following the previous night’s photos showing a robin nesting in the outbuilding, last night I set the camera up again but in a different position so it could look straight in at the nest:
In this view, taken in the early evening but when it was dark (hence the monochrome image illuminated by the infra-red lights), the male (cock) bird was still active and visiting the female (hen) bird.
I monitored the full set of images taken during the night and discovered that during the middle of the night the hen flew off the nest for about 50 minutes. Then after this, she kept flying away for a few minutes each time. These two images show the hen getting off the nest getting ready to fly off:
