A newt in the utility room

Last night I went into our utility room and nearly trod on a small creature. Looking closely at it, it appears to be (to my novice eyes), a smooth newt – possibly a juvenile. How it got into the utility room I have no idea. Here are some photos I managed to take – these are handheld grab shots taken with my compact camera in poor lighting…

Although these are grab shots of indifferent quality, they do show a little of the wildlife that is about a domestic environment.
