Plum Tree: Inverted Little Planet

This is an Inverted Little Planet of a plum tree. This was taken fairly early in the morning on a day with a little wind. There was high cloud covering most of the sky so the sun wasn’t shining – this helped to keep the contrast down:

This worked quite well. I decided to keep in the black edge of the photo as the central curve follows the curve of the wood edging – This I would normally crop out. For me it works OK although it may not be to everyone’s taste.

This was taken directly underneath the overhanging branches of the tree – you can see this as the centre of the sky circle is occupied by the tree.

About an hour later I decided to try another:

This is a similar image but I have kept the full image circle for the scalloped edge effect – I quite like it!

Here it is cropped:

As with the first image, this was taken from directly under the overhanging branches of the tree.

Next time I will either move a little further away from the tree or take photos of the ground underneath the camera; this is to enable all of the wood edging to show without showing the image boundaries. This will enable me to choose what effect to use.
