More work with hexagons in images

I have tried out some more ideas with hexagons – this is the start image:

Just a dahlia flower in the garden.

I then wrote a program, similar to that used in the previous post, to create a random pattern of hexagon segments – there were 3 sizes in 3 transparencies. Blending these with the original gives me this:

To make the hexagons stand out, I toned down the colours in the base image. Not too bad but not quite as I hoped.

Using this hexelated (?) image  as the base from the previous post:

I blended in the random hexagons to get:

This breaks up the regularity of the hexagons in the base image. I feel this has potential – I will try this with different base images to see what happens
