Reviewing earlier photos: Insects part 2

I have reprocessed the rest of my early insect photos; here is a selection of them:

First up is a pair of Hornet Moths, so called because at first glance they look like hornets! These were on the trunk of a poplar tree where, apparently, the grubs feed on the roots:

Next is a wasp cutting through plastic mesh to enable clear access to their nest – you can see some cuts on the bottom left. By the time they finished, there was a hole about 2-3 inches across:

This next one is of a spider’s web (yawn), but was is different about this one is that the light refracts on the dew (yes dew, not sprayed water!) showing colours of the rainbow; green-blue on the left and red-pink on the right. Depending on your device you may need to look carefully to see the colours:

Slugs are less glamorous, but are essential workers cleaning up a lot of organic debris:

And finally, a soldier beetle on cow parsley:
