August visit to Shugborough

Last week we made another visit to the National Trust property at Shugborough. It was a bit of an overcast day but the clouds had some interesting patterns. I did manage to take a variety of photos:

Dahlia in the walled garden

The walled garden has an area with a large selection of dahlias, here I show two that took my eye.

Another dahlia in the walled garden

There are two bridges over the river Sow, separated by some distance. I tried to look for a different view and in doing so realised that they are of the same style of construction – this I had never noticed before:

Bridge by the Chinese house – note the crowns topping the pillars at each end
The bridge between the boathouse and arboretum showing the same crowns
This is one of many fir trees that were covered by holes in the bark

The clouds had some interesting patterns; not being an expert, the identification is quite tentative (please let me know if you have a definitive identification of them)…

Clouds from the walled garden; I think they may be altostratus undulatus
