These portraits were taken at the camera club workshop:
We run these workshops every month to practice our photography. For this session the theme was posing. We were lucky in that 2 members brought a couple of young nephews to the session (these photos appear by permission of the parents).
The session was a bit stilted until I got out some props – hats gave the boys a different look and playing with bubbles enabled some really nice photos to be taken. With trying to co-ordinate the activities at these workshops I don’t get to take as many photos as I would like, but between us we took a nice selection of photos – the parents were quite pleased.
For the first photo that I am showing (above), rather than take a ‘straight’ portrait, I got down low to get a ‘boy with attitude’ look – I think this works quite well as did one with a high viewpoint.
For the second image, this younger boy is fascinated by tractors:
When he wasn’t playing with the bubbles he wanted to play with his tractor – I think this is quite a nice shot of him with his favourite toy.
These workshops, that are held in a local village hall, work quite well and give us an opportunity to practice with our cameras, help each other, make suggestions and learn about photography.
