Gardens at East Ruston Old Vicarage: now open

On Sunday (29th March) the gardens at East Ruston Old Vicarage opened for the start of the season. Although the weather forecast showed it would be wet, with quite heavy showers and blustery winds, we decided to visit the gardens (wearing raincoats, including my camera!)

Walled court & magnolia

This was the entrance to the Walled Court, one of the first photos I took. I like this for the pink magnolia and the gateway helping to frame the scene. The rain was quite heavy at times and very blustery – you can see the dull grey sky.

I usually take a 3-exposure HDR set but the wind was just so strong there was too much movement between exposures.  At times I couldn’t stand still enough – as this was during public visiting hours, tripods were not permitted. These were all processed from a single Raw image.

Here is a view of a display under the office window:

A lovely show of potted daffodils – one of two.

And here is a display by the orangery:E15_1169p1

I do like the juxtaposition of colours that they do – they match colours you wouldn’t think of putting together yet they work.

An finally one of a view in the winter garden:

You can see the full set in the EROV gallery although the are presented by garden, not by date so they are scattered about the gallery.
