B&W film testing – 3) trying a panorama

This shows a test of using B&W film negatives to produce a panorama:

This turned out better than I expected. I couldn’t detect any stitching problems. I did though override the lens focal length settings to match the actual taking lens (a 50mm). I was quite satisfied with this. I had an orange 4x filter on the lens to give a better tonal value to the sky.

However this one of a field I couldn’t get right:

Although taken with the same settings, the exposures somehow were different which stopped me getting them to blend well whatever I did. The two images on the left (away from the sun) did blend well.  One thing I did like was the tonal value of the blue sky with the white clouds – for these exposures I used a 4x orange filter on the lens, this was my favourite from my B&W film processing days.

Overall, I feel I could improve on these with more practice but, to get the images I want, I find digital gives me far better results. This is something I have wanted to do for some time but that particular itch is now scratched. It was worth the time and effort though.
