Winter visit to the Dorothy Clive Garden

Last weekend we paid a winter visit to the Dorothy Clive Garden which is not too far from where we live. We were surprised at the amount of blossom and flowers that were out and the general spring-like appearance of the garden. It was obvious that a lot of work had been put into the garden over the winter. Here are some of the photos that I took on the day:

First is the pond on the lower part of the garden – most of it is on a hillside. This is close to the entrance path from the car park:

Next we have a panoramic view of the Quarry Garden which is near the top of the hill. This view is from within the garden looking into a deeper part of it:

Then we have some bulbs in flower in the Winter Garden. Not sure what they are – my wife (who is the gardener) couldn’t name them…

Nearby are the stems of some colourful dogwood, these are always good for a bit of winter colour:

Now we have some blossom – this lovely pink colour really stood out. My wife thinks they might be Daphne or Viburnum but isn’t sure:

Around the garden are some wood carvings, often on the stumps of a felled tree. This little doorway on the tree stump made a nice addition:

Finally we have the beautiful statue of a stag. This is in the Quarry Garden but to get to it you need to find the right path:
