Shugborough – the first signs of spring

For the first time in a month we made a visit to the National Trust grounds at Shugborough. There were some definite signs of spring such as in these crocuses growing in the grass by the mansion:

Although it is drying out after the recent flooding, parts of the grounds are roped off to prevent access but you can still see signs of the flooding – this tree always seems to be one of the last to dry out:

The bridge by the Chinese House was one of the parts roped off. However, it still made a nice view:

Turning around from where the above photo was taken is a monument with this classical scene in it with the inscription ‘Et in Arcadia Ego’:

Finally is this view of a sinuous path by the River Sow – I do like the way it curves through the trees. Also the daffodils are starting to flower:
