Making a start in Ultra Violet Fluorescence photography – 1

This subject is something I have been thinking about over the past year or so and now that I have some Ultra-Violet (UV) light sources I have made a start – mostly experimenting to see what works and what doesn’t, and to learn. Here are a few of my first test images:

UV fluorescence view of fat residues in a frying pan
First try at painting a plant with UV light
Some rock samples to see what fluoresces under UV and what doesn’t

This vase is an old one of a pair (one broke in a house move) that was my late mother’s. It was possibly a post-war wedding gift although it probably dates before then. One of my daughters has started a small collection of uranium glass so I thought I would check to see if it fluoresces…

As you can see it does, brilliantly! Use the vertical bar to move the slider for before/after views
