Visit to Wales: Porthdinllaen Headland

On our visit to North Wales last month we stayed in a National Trust holiday cottage at Porthdinllaen which is a tiny beachside village/hamlet on a headland on the north side of the Llyn peninsular. Most of the headland is a golf course but there are paths around it which make for some interesting walks and wonderful views. We were lucky with the weather – our few days here missed the rain but there were very strong winds. Here is a selection from our short stay:

Porthdinllaen headland with the lookout station in the distance
Portrait view of Porthdinllaen headland with the lookout station in the distance
A wide shot of Porthdinllaen headland with the lookout station in the distance
A view east across the bay formed by the Porthdinllaen headland with the mountains of the Llyn peninsular in the distance. Some of the golf course is visible.
A contre-jour sea view looking south along the west side of the Porthdinllaen headland
A view from the cliff tops of the village/hamlet of Porthdinllaen along the beach
A panoramic view looking north along the west side of the Porthdinllaen headland
A view looking west across the northern tip of the Porthdinllaen headland
A view looking east across the northern tip of the Porthdinllaen headland
A second view looking east across the northern tip of the Porthdinllaen headland

If you like this type of scenery then this could be a worthwhile visit – weather permitting…
