Clematis post flowering in Ultra Violet Fluorescence

Clematis, after they have flowered, are not very interesting plants to look at. But when I walked around the garden one evening with my UV torch the remains of the flowers (are these the sepals?) glow well from the UV torch. Here I am showing 3 examples from our garden. For each I am showing the daylight flash version with the UV fluorescence as a ‘before/after’ ‘slider’, followed by a composite image split in half showing the two versions in the one image:

Example 1:

Clematis in daylight flash
Clematis fluorescing under UV lighting

A composite image showing the 2 versions

Example 2

Clematis no.2 in daylight flash
Clematis no.2 in UV fluorescence

Composite image of Clematis no. 2

This is the set-up for clematis no. 2:

Example 3, here I get closer in:

Clematis no. 3 close up in daylight type lighting
Clematis no. 3 close up under UV lighting

Clematis no. 3 composite showing both versions

I never cease to be amazed at how the different lighting changes the look of the flowers. These were the most difficult to photograph and process as, although it was a still night, there was just enough breeze to move the flowers.
