Unusual patterns (leopard spot-like) in slushy snow today

This morning when we got up we had had a night of a little snow followed by rain. Everything was very slushy when we went out. On our drive we had some unusual leopard-like spots of slushy snow. I have never seen anything like this before. We walked through our estate and some drives on the north side of the roads had similar patterns albeit not as extensive as on our drive.

I have never seen anything like this before so I photographed it. Below I show some photos I took of this phenomenon. If anyone can enlighten me as to what physical process caused this I would be most interested:

The road and the drive showing the slushy snow phenomenon
A view of the snow on the drive from a standing position
A downward view of the pattern
A closer view of the pattern

Nature is interesting…
