Rock Sample in UV Fluorescence – Fluorite

I had a small sample of fluorite given to me so, as is my want, I tried to see what it is like in Ultra-Violet fluorescence. I show here some of the results using the comparison slider method to show pairs of images starting with the daylight flash and the UV fluorescence:

These next two images show the same images blended together using different methods:

I think that blending the two together shows up the detail better. I also like the reflection – next time I will have to show more of it.

Finally, the setup for the daylight flash image – nothing fancy or expensive here (1970’s flashguns, DIY power supply, old lightboxes…):
